RAA In Practice | Tendering for the Public Sector for Small to Medium Practices | Chaya Bratoeva

The Session
Tendering for public projects can be a daunting task. Large and complex briefs, contract conditions, rigid processes and time pressure can be prohibitive for a smaller team. Yet small to medium practices play an important role in public projects by bringing innovative thinking, craftsmanship and local connections to some of the most important community architecture.  

This talk is aimed at improving understanding of the tender process and reducing the barriers for practices who are interested in public project work. It will cover the key components of a strong tender bid, addressing questions around marketing, procurement principles and basics of tender documentation. We will also discuss tips for preparing a tender submission and common frustrations for the smaller practice. 

Chaya Bratoeva
​​Chaya Bratoeva is a Director of Planning and Design at Western Sydney University with a background in architecture and landscape architecture. She has spent the last 20 years in NSW working both client-side and in private practice coordinating the design and delivery of unique urban projects for state and local government as well as the university sector. Chaya is an experienced project administrator who is inspired by meaningful, well-crafted spaces that allow both nature and community to thrive.
