RAA Event Yamba

CENTRED 2024

CENTRED - making space for community

DATES June 13-15 2024

LOCATION
Yamba Surf Life Saving Club, 1 Marine Parade, Yamba - right in the heart of town.

While regional practices may be physically removed from each other, they often face shared challenges. CENTRED is an event to bring them together in beautiful coastal Yamba. There we will discuss how we can influence, advocate and shape the spaces centred in our communities.

Based in Yamba, creative director Louisa Gee is passionate about her local area and championing good design in the regions. She has curated a diverse selection of speakers who will present how they have impacted their own communities, and share strategies to spark ideas you might apply in your own region.

Join us for a varied program of actives including a studio visit, walking tour, engaging speakers, social meals, house visits and a refreshing dip in the ocean!

CONTRIBUTORS
Speakers will share their own approaches of engaging with local community, speaking from both within and adjacent to the architecture profession.

The format will include panel discussions and questions extended to the audience to encourage collective discussion. What are the limitations, possibilities and strategies of how we can guide our regional futures?

THE LOCATION
Yamba is located on the beautiful North coast of NSW at the mouth of the Clarence River. With a modest population that swells to three times its size in summer, the ever popular beach town is a perfect sunny location for a winter RAA event.

The laidback nature of Yamba will provide the perfect balance between professional development, technical knowledge and a relaxing atmosphere for attendees to catch up and discuss shared experiences, challenges and milestones.

With everything centred within easy walking distance, attendees will leave feeling refreshed and energised after 3 days of local activities and CPD talks set amongst the charm of Yamba’s beaches.

RAA events are open to associated disciplines and interested community members as well as RAA members.
