Issue #1 of Field - Architecture Gone Regional is now available to order.
Field connects community, sparks dialogue, and honours the craft and care that define architecture in the regions. Through essays, project profiles, and conversations, it uniquely captures how architects and makers help communities shape more responsive, resourceful, and resilient places.
Issue #1 explores resilience through disaster response and housing strategy from three perspectives reaching from the East Coast to Central Australia. It delves into the issues of practice such as public works procurement in regional settings, and brings natural materials back into focus — from hempcrete’s resurgence, to a pilot program for prefabricated modular housing made from earth, hemp and straw.
Produced by the Regional Architecture Association (RAA), Field reflects the regions we work in — their landscapes, people and projects shaping regional towns and cities, while sharing the big ideas and innovation from RAA events and conversations with a broader audience.
