RAA President’s Welcome to 2026
Tim Lee, RAA President
January 2026
As we move into 2026, the Regional Architecture Association looks forward to extending our presence within the design community and strengthening our role as the peak body representing architects and affiliated professions across regional Australia.
A key focus for the year ahead is the continuation of our committed advocacy program, addressing issues that affect our day-to-day professional lives. This includes advocating for free access to Australian Standards and for appropriate architectural representation in local government planning processes, alongside a range of other important initiatives.
We will continue to maintain and build on our partnerships with the ACA and Parlour through our established Memoranda of Understanding. In addition, we are actively working to develop similar relationships with other organisations, including within the construction industry, as we seek stronger, united representation. We look forward to sharing further announcements as the year progresses.
Architect and Affiliate members should now have received their copy of Field – Architecture Gone Regional, Issue #1. This new journal offers a compelling and rigorous insight into regional design communities and embodies the values and ambition our association exists to support, strengthen, and promote. Additional copies are available to order via our website. For enquiries, please contact the association at info@regionalarchitecture.net.au.
In 2026, RAA will continue its popular program of online and in-person events. This year we will be visiting Victoria and returning to Queensland, followed by outback New South Wales in the second half of the year. Our program will remain diverse and engaging, and as always, we warmly welcome new members while thanking our existing members for their ongoing support and commitment to advancing our profession throughout regional Australia.
