The Session
One of the benefits of registration as an architect is the portability of the ‘licence’. Various mutual recognition agreements, both within Australia and internationally, support architects to work beyond their ‘home’ jurisdiction.

This presentation will provide you with some background on the role of the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) in negotiating mutual recognition agreements, an overview of the various agreements currently in place for Australian architects, and when and how to take advantage of these. 

You will also be introduced to some of the key differences in the architect legislation from state to state in Australia that you must master and comply with when you start working in other jurisdictions.

Dr Kirsten Orr
​​Dr Kirsten Orr is the Registrar and CEO of the NSW Architects Registration Board, the Government regulator for approximately 6,200 NSW architects.

Her role drives the governance and performance of functions under the Architects Act 2003. This includes enforcing architects’ regulatory obligations, operating complaints investigation and dispute resolution systems, and developing and implementing initiatives to improve and strengthen regulatory effectiveness, including the delivery of education programs to enhance architects’ understanding of professional standards.
