RICHARD JARMAN
Australian Antarctic Division
Richard Jarman is a designer, project leader, educator, filmmaker and innovator whose career has been defined by delivering ambitious projects on the fringes, whether in remote landscapes, extreme environments or across international borders. As Design Coordinator for the Australian Antarctic Division's Macquarie Island Station redevelopment, he helps lead the planning and delivery of critical infrastructure in one of Australia's most isolated locations.
His experience spans major cultural, hospitality and mixed-use developments throughout Australia, Asia and the Middle East, combining strategic thinking with hands-on project delivery in complex settings. Beyond the built environment, Richard has worked extensively in film and animation as a director, animator and production designer on award-winning productions.
A lifelong maker and problem solver, he also designed, built and raced a land speed record-breaking vehicle on a remote salt lake in central Australia. This diverse background in design, storytelling, engineering and extreme-environment projects gives him a unique ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and turn bold ideas into reality in places where conventional solutions struggle to exist.
