As part of the Power of Community program, there will be updates from both Victorian Government Architect Jill Garner and ARBV CEO & Registrar Dr Glenice Fox; this will serve to provide an overview and opportunity for discussion around what is happening in the state of Victoria more broadly.

ARBV CEO & Registrar

Dr Glenice Fox has been the CEO/Registrar of Architects Registration Board of Victoria since February 2021. Glenice is an accomplished senior executive and has worked in a range of regulatory environments. She has previously managed the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria from 2016 to 2019 and was a Board director of the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia from 2023 to 2025. Glenice strongly believes in the importance of regulatory stewardship to ensure that regulation is effective at meeting the goals of protecting the community while minimising regulatory burden. She also believes that effective professional regulation supports and benefits practitioners and strengthens their profession overall. 

Jill Garner AM LFRAIA
Victorian Government Architect

Jill became the first woman Victorian Government Architect in 2015. She is a highly respected architect with 40 years’ experience extending across practice and government. As an advocate for architecture and design in state government, she leads a small team of experts, promoting the value of contextual, integrated design thinking and a collaborative approach across design disciplines.

Some examples of Jill's impactful advice and advocacy work with the Office of the Victorian Government Architect includes:

  • Jury member, competition for Victoria’s new NGV Contemporary.

  • Chair, Design Excellence Committee for revisioning the Arts Centre Melbourne.

  • Chair, Design Quality Team, 12-year realisation of the Melbourne Park Masterplan.

  • Expert input, review processes for diverse transport projects including Melbourne Metro and the Level Crossing Removal Program.

  • Chair, expert review panel processes for diverse private sector projects.

 Jill is an alumnus of the innovative practice-based Masters by Design, RMIT. She has taught at both RMIT and Melbourne Universities; is a past board member and examiner for the Architects Registration Board Victoria. She chaired the Australian Committee for the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. She is a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects and in 2022 was awarded the President’s Prize. in 2021 Jill was appointed Member, Order of Australia, recognising her distinguished service to architecture, education, and professional associations.

LOCATION Yarrayne / Guildford on Dja Dja Wurrung Country in the Victorian Central Goldfields region. The Friday main seminar day will be at the Guildford Public Hall, 32 Fryers St, Guildford Victoria
