REFLECTIONS creative directors
TIM LEE
Tim Lee, Principal of Tim Lee Architects, is based in Goulburn NSW and is a Founding Member and current president of RAA. Tim has been involved as creative director delivering regional architecture events and programs for over 10 years and is committed to providing high quality events supporting and advocating for the value architecture and regional practice.
Since opening his practice in 2010, Tim has worked across the state creating and managing projects driven by a commitment to sustainability and site specific design. The practice has a focus on heritage, specifically adaptive reuse, renovation and stabilisation of historically significant regional buildings. He learned the value and importance of considered and tested design through extensive experience working on a variety of complex projects in Singapore, Jakarta and Qatar. This work highlighted the value of collaborative design process, and forms a key element of his practice today.
Tim also advocates for community engagement and working with local government to facilitate appropriate design outcomes.
IAN SERCOMBE
Ian Sercombe is director of a small architectural practice based on Worimi Country, on the NSW Midnorth Coast, Australia. He has been a member of RAA since its inception and has attended most of the in-person events around the country. He has a strong focus on community, being on local committees for surf life saving, community association and running the local cricket competition, as well as organising several local music festivals.
Ian’s practice specialises in residential and small commercial developments. His work is heavily influenced by a desire to integrate with the natural world. This is evident in the way the buildings connect with their site through passive design and material selection. While connecting with site is important, Ian is equally passionate about aiming for qualities of tactility, beauty, serenity and joy in spaces. Qualities that make a space feel great and provide inspiration and healthy environments for the occupants.
